GODHEAD Officially Joined By Former STATIC-X Drummer
June 24, 2003GODHEAD guitarist/vocalist Jason C. Miller has confirmed via the group's official newsletter the departure of drummer Tom Z. and the recent addition to the band's ranks of former STATIC-X sticksman Ken Jay.
The following is the Miller's statement on the matter:
"Hey guys, it's true. Tom QUIT GODHEAD about 3 weeks ago, but it has nothing to do with us, it has to do with his own personal reasons and personal life. I don't want to divulge that information here because he should tell you guys himself if he wants to. As far as I know Tom is leaving the music biz for a while, and the touring end of the biz for a long while. If any of you know the rest of us, you know that we are really easy going and very easy to get along with, so it never had to do with personality conflicts or anything like that. He has been a very close friend of ours for the last year and a half and we'll miss him.
"On the bright side though Ken Jay (who up until very recently was the drummer of STATIC-X) has been jamming with us and is working out awesome, and we have the 'blessing', if you will of the STATIC-X guys so this is going to be a happy merger for everyone and not cause any 'bad blood' between the two bands. [STATIC-X frontman] Wayne [Static]'s been a good friend of mine for several years now (he sang on the new album if you hadn't noticed) and we have discussed this whole thing at length.
"When we first found out that we were going to lose Tom, we auditioned drummers hoping to find someone just as good. When we got Ken Jay we found someone who makes the entire band better! I can't TELL you how excited we all are to have Ken in the band! He's an incredible drummer and a great, great guy! Our tour dates are going to be posted next week and I can't wait for you to hear what we sound like with Ken in the driver's seat!"
GODHEAD's new album, "Evolver", is set to hit stores July 15 through Reality Entertainment/Sony. The band's new single, "The Hate In Me", can be previewed here.
